The Burnt Orange Heresy: Neil LaBute Edition
This news is certainly intriguing. LaBute's In the Company of Men, is a very good and very ugly film, and it gives me hope that he will be faithful to Willeford's unique vision. Of course, if he screws it up, I will never forgive him.
Nathan-- I haven't seen "In The Company Of Men", so I'll take your word that it's a good movie. I'm never optimistic, though, when Hollywood begins tinkering with the novels of the great pulp guys like Willeford or Jim Thompson, or any of the others. "The Grifters", of course, was an exception, but I tremble at the thought of a present-day remake of "The Maltese Falcon" or "The Asphalt Jungle".
I'll go see "The Burnt Orange Heresy", but my expectations won't be nearly as high as my hopes. --Mike Dennis Las Vegas

Welcome to the Indie Crime Blog. As the name implies, this blog is dedicated to reviews of crime fiction published by independent presses. There are many books published every year that seem to be ignored for a variety of reasons. The books sections of newspapers are getting smaller. Bookstores give more shelf space to more established authors. I could go on, but you get it.My intent is to review books both old and new in the hopes that some deserving writers and worthy publishers will gain some exposure. I can be emailed at IndieCrime-at-gmail-dot-com
