To say these stories are new discoveries is hardly accurate. Simply PR hype. They have been listed on the inventory sheets of the collection at the Harry Ransom library along with other ms. fragments for years and accessible to researchers upon request or at least since 1997.
Presumably these are all first drafts or unpolished works, none terribly long. As I understand it, the estate has always nixed ideas of allowing them to see print, labeling them as inferior.
